SPR # EHET5YHV8NFixed in 6.0.5 release

Product Area: Client Technical Area: Install/Setup/Registration Platform: Mac

Lotus Customer Support APAR: LO02228

SPR# EHET5YHV8N - Fixed a serious problem on the dual processor Macintosh platform in which the Notes client would hang unpredictably. The problem is due to failure to implement atomic operations for the Macintosh platform. That failure is now corrected. The
default implementation used nonatomic instructions, which are not a problem on a uniprocessor, but
extremely risky on a multiprocessor. A workaround would be to disable the Dynamic Client configuration, in the preferences file. This problem has been fixed in 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.5 / 6.5.4 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
SPR# EHET5YHV8N - Fixed a serious problem on the dual processor Macintosh
platform in which the Notes client would hang unpredictably. The problem is due
to failure to implement atomic operations for the Macintosh platform. That
failure is now corrected. The default implementation used nonatomic
instructions, which are not a problem on a uniprocessor, but extremely risky on
a multiprocessor. A workaround would be to disable the Dynamic Client
configuration, in the preferences file. This problem has been fixed in 6.0.5
and 6.5.4.

To temporarily resolve the issue, force quit (using the Command - Option -
Escape sequence) the frozen Notes application and kill the NotesDynConfig
process.

In at least one case, disabling the Dynamic Client configuration in the
Preferences file for some machines was a viable workaround; however, this was
not successful on all machines. To enable (0) or disable (1) the Dynamic
Client Configuration, add the following parameter in the Notes Preferences file.

DisableDynConfigClient=1
